China expressed concern over tensions in the Middle East after Iran carried out a series of strikes on Israel. In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry called for restraint and urged the international community to help maintain regional peace. China has been seeking to play a role in stabilizing the Muslim world and previously mediated between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The Chinese embassy in Tehran also advised Chinese nationals in Iran to increase their security precautions.
